About Tierza-

Among the many loves as a child, dance, performance art and acrobatics were a natural draw for Tierza.   Beginning with gymnastics and moving fully into dance and music by age 16, she excelled in Modern, Jazz, Abstract and Afro-Caribbean dance at Jefferson high school (a performing arts school in Portland Oregon).  In her early 20’s she danced with the music group “The Daddy’s” and deepened her skill in improvisational hip hop touring to various places along the west coast. At 23 she began to dabble into belly dancing attending American Cabaret style classes as well as Tribal Belly dance (w-Paulette D’Reese/ Gypsy Caravan). This became the foundation to what would later become Vajra Dhara Dance and Tierza’s own unique style of performance.

In 2003 Tierza began dancing with a world dance music group called The Shape Shifters and assisted in the creation of two theatrical music/dance productions in Sedona; The Fire of the Harvest and the Discovery of Light. Since then Tierza has done multiple performances including belly dance with The Jazz Bedouins, Celtic gypsy dance with Dublin Soul, snake and fire dance.  In the last 8 years she has re-focused once more on belly dance and Tribal Belly dance fusion. This has created her own unique flair for a once ancient art form that she calls “Modern Dakini Dance. “ Combining Tribal fusion belly dance with East Indian standing asana, Tibetan mudras and facial gestures, she is able to bring the deity alive. She also manages Vajra Dhara Dance Company and presently teaches out of her home studio, Vajra Mountain Studios, in Sedona AZ.
